Wen is mostly made of pottery or colored glass. In important palaces, halls and other buildings, colored glaze Wen are mostly used. Wen at both ends of the main palace ridges in the Forbidden City of Beijing during the Ming and Qing Dynasties are all made of colored glaze. The Great Wen on the ridge of the Hall of Supreme Harmony is the most typical example. The Wen is 3.4m high and weighs about 4.3t. It is made of several pieces of colored glass. It is hard to imagine how such a huge, exquisite and vivid decoration was designed and built. It can be seen that every detail of ancient Chinese architecture is ingeniously conceived, which reflects the delicacy of ancient Chinese architecture and the exquisite skills of skilled craftsmen.
